How to find Course Study Images

If you’re taking one of NYSID’s Design History courses, such as Historical Styles or Modern Architecture and Design, you will need study images for your review. Starting this semester, and continuing from now on, you can get your Course Study Images on ARTstor. They will no longer be on the portal.

If you are enrolled in one of these courses, you should receive an email with the password for accessing the images for your class. We have automatically signed you up for an ARTstor account, using the email address you have on record with the school. The default password for your account is artstor, but you can change this if you wish. The password to access the images for your class is different, and was included in your email.

To learn how to get to your study images, please watch the video tutorial FYI: For Your Information. You will only have to follow these steps once, and you will automatically have access from that point on. As always, if you have any questions, please contact the library.

Auction Catalogs – Where Are They Now?

You might have noticed a few changes around the library this week and wondered what they’re all about.

We’re expanding the periodicals section in the library, so that full runs of Architectural Record, GA Houses, GA Japan, GA Document, and Progressive Architecture will be available for browsing.

To do this, we’ve had to move the auction catalog collection, and change our policies on their use. The auction catalogs are now on the shelves by the atelier color laser printer in the entryway to the Atelier. We’re no longer checking auction catalogs in or out and they aren’t in Bobcat anymore.

The catalogs are now available for you to browse, use and copy or scan, but we request that you don’t take them out of the building. The auction catalogs are for you and your classmates to use, so if you take one home, you are taking it away from your classmates. Please respect your fellow students.

If you’re looking for something in particular, either a specific piece or a specific auction, check out our new database, artnet. Artnet is available on campus only at www.artnet.com, and allows you to browse auction results, styles and periods of furniture, and many other categories.

Course Study Images

With the new school year and new website, we’ve been getting a lot of questions about course study images. Where are they? When are they posted? Your library has the answers.

The course study images for a class are located on the portal page for that class. As you can see from the screenshot above, the course study images for Modern Architecture are located on the class page in the portal. The red arrow points to the images from the first lecture.

The study images will be available 48 hours after the instructor sends them. Generally this is after the class session.
