We recently received some great samples for the Graduate Center and information when Erin Weatherstone, the representative from Unika Vaev, visited!
One line, Life Textiles – Mammoth, is a 100% wool fabric from humanely sheered free-range sheep. It meets all commercial ACT standards. It prices out at $140/yd. The dye process does recycle water, but natural dyes are not used because they currently lack the color fastness needed in a commercial setting. Click here for more information.
Another new line is Light. It is a Polyurethane that is breathable, a water barrier, and anti-microbial. Great news for those who don’t like to stick to upholstery in areas that require a water barrier.
3 new dot and stripe lines are woven locally in New Jersey and we will be receiving samples when they are available.
Another tidbit Erin shared was that ACT, Association for Contract Textiles, has launched a sustainability guide for textiles used in commercial interiors. Read more about ACT Standards at http://www.contracttextiles.org/
Good luck with finals!
